Turbine House, Braemar

turbinehouse1

A truly one off renovation and extension of an old turbine house on the steep banks of the river Clunie in Braemar for another architect client, Peter Mulvey retired Director of Jenkins and Marr.

Starting with only granite walls and a roof, Alexander and Co constructed a steel frame to create living accommodation over 3 floors. A mix of vernacular granite and slate compliments the stunning copper roof while larch and verde glass give this building a unique look in a very unique location.

“Despite a typical Braemar winter, Alexander and Co completed my house on time and within budget. During a dif cult construction Alexander and Co found solutions rather than problems and I would have no reservations in recommending them to anyone – whether for an equally unusual, or a more conventional, building project.”
