Old Struan, Blair Atholl

P1010879

A small settlement of 6 houses constructed for Atholl Estates near Blair Atholl.

These cottage style houses combine a mix of traditional and 21st century design. The shape and size of the buildings, with features such as Scots Pine porch columns and larch clad walls, help the houses sit comfortably in their Highland surroundings. The zinc and slate roofs, high speci cation double glazing and modern layout complete an aesthetically pleasing development which has proved very popular providing cosy, functional and attractive homes within a sympathetically landscaped settlement.

“We knew that Alexander and Co would have a good practical and pragmatic approach to constructing these 6 houses on a site that had no infrastructure. Building in remote rural areas needs a level of trust as dif culties readily present themselves. Alexander and Co contributed to practical working solutions on the construction of the infrastructure roads and drainage. They came up with solutions on technical details around important junctions of zinc roof, slate roof and harled and timber clad walls. A successful project which we went on to replicate with Alexander and Co on four more new houses at Guay, a village between Ballinluig and Dunkeld.”
